Review: Goodfellas is a masterpiece, pure and simple work. Although not my favorite movie of Martin Scorsese is an impressive achievement, and one of his best films. The film is an impressive technique. Consistently work well with large sets (known and unknown), cinematography, editing, dialogue, brilliant use of music, this is awesome. But Scorsese and co-writer Mitch Pileggi never lose sight loses its main purpose - to tell the story. And after that it's really hard to beat this movie. As for the actors, De Niro was in top form, Ray Liotta is the best hes ever been, and this is the end Joe Pescis. You also have Lorraine Bracco, Paul Sorvino, Michael Imperioli, and many familiar faces in small but important roles (Debi Mazar, Samuel L. Jackson, Illeana Douglas, Kevin Corrigan), plus dozens of unknown actors (not actors) who are all so good, it seems unfair to pick just the stars. (Also keep an eye out for Vincent Gallo in some scenes. Makes no sense, but it looks good!). Goodfellas (so far) Scorseses last great film, and one of the best films of 1990. Essential viewing for any film fan, this movie does is not to be missed! Highly recommended!
